Friday, March 5th, 2010The condo where I live overlooks a busy busy intersection, and for ages now I have been waiting for an accident.
There was one last year, when a BMW X5 (say no more) drove into the bus shelter, and completely wiped it out. Unfortunately there was an elderly woman sat in the shelter at the time, who thankfully didn’t get hit by the car, but she did look extremely shocked after the seat disappeared from under here, causing her to fall to the floor on her bum, covered in shattered glass, surrounded by the crumpled metal structure that had formed a tee pee around her.
That accident wasn’t really due to the intersection though, more the driver of the BMW.
In 7 months, I’ve heard screech after screech, but never to followed by a bang, or a crunch – until Tuesday when, screech……… bang rang through my ears, like sweet, sweet music. The results however were far from exciting, a reasonable shunt, but run of the mill stuff really, and no injuries or deaths – better luck next time.
Ontario Driver's Licence
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010A 40 minute walk, and 1 hour wait, eye test and mugshot later and I am the proud owner of an Ontario driver’s licence. Not that I’m excited.
Drivers licence exchange
Monday, February 22nd, 2010Today, or maybe tomorrow I am putting in my application to exchange my UK drivers licence for an Ontario licence so I can get some proper auto insurance out here.
Dang I’ve missed driving, missed the independence, the lack of restriction I’ve found having to use public transport and also the spontaneity of just getting up and going, whenever I like. Although I don’t have my own car currently, I will have access to a car, which means I will regain some independence at least.
It will also be great to allow The Shell to have a drink now and again, rather than her having to drive everywhere.
